The father says they prayed daily to the picture of St Jude that hung on the wall of the main living room.
But the event that set the tone for the young man’s transformation was a catastrophic accident caused by his involvement in illegal activities, which left him near death in hospital.
It was only after long prayers and family togetherness that the family members protected and loved him at all times without ceasing to pray to St Jude.

In 1987, an engaged couple were absolutely determined to get married. They had planned the wedding for about seven months, during which time they could look for a place to live and finish buying their appliances. Five months passed and the groom began to experience body aches, fatigue and sometimes fainting.
They both attributed the stress of the wedding to the groom’s illness, ignored it and decided to go ahead with plans for the long-awaited union. They did not expect the groom’s complaints to continue for the rest of the month, and with almost nothing to do before the wedding day, the worried woman wanted the groom to make his usual visit to the doctor because the symptoms were already very frequent, and she wanted her ideal love to feel completely well in body and mind for the most dreamed-of day of his life.
The man went for a check-up and did not want his fiancée to accompany him, he was very suspicious of the results, he did not want his love to see them.
The girlfriend, confused and upset, asked her boyfriend why he didn’t want her to know what he had, to know if he really had something.
She couldn’t believe what her boyfriend was doing to her, he didn’t trust her and they weren’t even married.
With a few tears in his eyes, the bridegroom sat his wife down in the middle of the hospital corridor and with both hands showed her his diagnosis: she had a tumour in her brain that she could no longer bear, and it was urgent that she have an operation to remove it.
But there was a chance that he might not survive the operation, and there was also a chance that he might not survive the operation if it was not done in time.
After the torrential rain that fell on the poor woman that day, she did not hesitate to find the image of Saint Judith, she cancelled her wedding and prepared for her husband’s emergency operation, which would take place in less than twelve days, the bride looked for her medal, packed her bags and went to the hospital.
In the operating theatre, her beloved was waiting for her, wanting to give his bride a last kiss in case he never saw her again.

In 1980, a woman fulfilled her dream of marrying the man of her dreams. She began her first months of marriage with great enthusiasm and happiness, sharing with the love of her life all the adventures she had ever dreamed of, but another of her dreams was to become a mother.
Already planned and discussed with her beloved husband, the arrival of their child would be an important event in both their lives, both feeling fulfilled and happy with the miracle of marriage, but they felt ready to be parents.
During a visit to the doctor, the woman told the doctor of her desire to become a mother and he carried out the routine tests and examinations without waiting for a negative answer.
After a few days, she received a call from the doctor, who told her that it would be impossible for her to conceive her child because she had cancer in her uterus.

Another recorded story tells of the time when a man working at a petrol station almost lost his life in a fire.
Roberto was working the night shift, a hard day at the beginning but a very lonely one at the end. Alone and in charge of the station, he had to take care of the trucks that came to fill the station’s main tanks. Roberto would wait for the men to get off and talk to them while the main tank was being filled.
While talking to Roberto, the man who owned the truck accidentally pulled a cigarette out of his pocket and on the other side a box of matches, which he lit and immediately set fire to the rest of the petrol station. Roberto says that at that moment he saw his whole life flash before his eyes, the most beautiful moments, the sad situations, the day he got married, the day his children were born, all in slow motion and so real.
Suddenly he began to pray to St Jude while he was on fire, there was only room in his mind for this immaculate being whom he hoped would soon save him. He says that the image of St Jude came down from heaven and extended his hand to Roberto and the man who was with him, that through the hand of St Jude the two men left the place and St Jude himself extinguished the flames on their bodies, not even ten minutes had passed before the firemen arrived to extinguish the petrol station.
Roberto still works in the same place today, grateful to St Jude for saving him from that accident and for allowing him to do his job in a balanced way.
St Jude Thaddeus impossible miracles
Another miracle of St Jude Thaddeus is attributed to the boy who lost his foot in an accident at home in 1965 and was told that his leg would also have to be amputated. His mother, outraged by the doctors’ decision, asked St Jude Thaddeus to intervene in her son’s recovery and in the doctors’ decision to amputate his leg. Today, the boy is a healthy and strong man who survived without a foot and without having the rest of his leg removed.
In 1995, a woman witnessed the miracle of her dying son lying on his bed. She had always been devoted to the saint who wore the medal of his face on his chest, and she knew that his miracles were done through the Word of God.
The story begins one morning when the mother went to wake up the child whose room was at the end of the corridor, she opened the door of her bedroom and because of the darkness she could not see her son very well, when she went to remove the curtains she noticed that the child was motionless and in a position that was very difficult to reach.
The frightened woman decided to call her neighbour, who had been working in the medical field for almost twenty years, and the woman ran out of her house shouting to wake up her neighbour. When he arrived at the boy’s bedroom, he went over, examined him and told her that the boy was almost dead and that he urgently needed to be taken to hospital.
On arrival at the hospital, the nurses and doctors took the child to another room, away from his mother, to calm her down. After two hours, the doctors came out of her room and gave her the other sad news: that her son was brain dead, that he could no longer move his limbs and that he was so close to death that there was nothing they could do.
The woman took the news to the rest of the family who prayed day and night to St Jude to save the poor child, no one could believe it, everyone was very confused. A few days later, the woman went to see her son for the last time, as the doctor had told her it was necessary to disconnect him so that he would not suffer any more. She entered the room, placed the medal of St Jude on the baby’s chest, kissed him on the forehead and said goodbye with tears in her eyes.
Almost at the door of the last corridor, the woman heard the cry of the doctors: It’s a miracle!… When the mother returned to the room where her son was, she saw again the child she had seen the night before. She could not believe it, her son had come out of his coma. Today, the woman and her son are faithful followers of St Jude Thaddeus and they take it upon themselves to spread their testimony to every corner of their city.
Testimonies of the miracles of St Jude Thaddeus
In 1959, a man driving home at night had a very serious accident in which his car went over a cliff and left him almost immobile. The man says that the car burst into flames, but he was able to get out of the accident unharmed, and he also says that the reason for the accident was that he wanted to put down an object that had been left on the passenger seat.
After a very sharp bend, the object fell to the floor of the vehicle; the man wanted to pick it up but had to take his eyes off the road, when he returned to see his destination he realised that it was not the correct lane he was in and tried to return to the one that corresponded to him, between the speed and the curves of the road he lost control of the vehicle and suffered such an accident.
The most curious testimony was that some nearby villagers helped her out of the car and, surprised by the man who came out of the accident unharmed, they saw the medal of St. Jude hanging on his chest close to his neck. This is one of the many miracles of St Jude Thaddeus.
Another living testimony of the miracles of St Jude Thaddeus was in 1973 when a woman with chronic kidney problems received the news that she would have to undergo an operation on her kidneys.
She had been resigned to the operation for a long time and had even told several friends to do the test to see if someone could be her donor.
When she went to see the doctor, he gave her a date for the operation, she already had her donor, and it was possible that she would not survive the operation.
She had always been a St Jude devotee, and with her left kidney problem it had become even more so, she now carried her St Jude medal with her at all times.
With only two appointments left, the 34-year-old had already found someone to take care of her belongings in the event of her death, left her pets with her parents and walked into her final appointment with her head held high.
With the St Jude medal pinned to her chest, she walked into the office for the last routine examination before her operation.
The astonished doctor could not utter a single sentence other than “It’s gone, the disease is gone”, which he repeated over and over in amazement. The donor friend’s face was pale and full of astonishment, neither of them knew how the black spot that surrounded the inside of her kidney had disappeared, the smiling and healthy woman smiled and cried, thinking that it was one of the miracles of St Jude Thaddeus. Today the woman lives a serene and peaceful life and has given several talks about her testimony and faith.
