Testimonies of the miracles of Saint Raphael the Archangel
The miracles of Saint Raphael the Archangel are related to the field of medicine and therefore to the healing of the body, but it is also beneficial to alleviate spiritual pains, to entrust ourselves to him when we travel, when we get married or when we are in times of betrothal. Saint Raphael the Archangel is like a medicine that God has given us to heal our body and soul, especially when we are in our last hours.
Along with Saint Gabriel the Archangel and Saint Michael the Archangel, Saint Raphael the Archangel is one of the principal archangels who dwell and serve God forever; they are, like the other heavenly beings, messengers of divine grace and possess gifts that we, human sinners, can hardly understand. The miracles of St. Raphael the Archangel are mentioned in the Bible, in the Book of Tobit, as a testimony for all generations.
The biblical testimonies of the miracles of Saint Raphael the Archangel can be found in the Holy Bible, where it is told how he intervened in favour of a family very devoted to God, changing their fortunes as a reward for their life full of goodness and righteousness; in the Book of Saint Tobias, it is told that Saint Raphael the Archangel listened to the prayers of Saint Tobias and interceded for him and his family before God, sending himself under a human form to work miracles among them.
The miracles mentioned in the Book of St. Tobias consisted in accompanying the son of St. Tobias on a journey to make him marry a woman called Sarah, who, because of a demon, had let seven betrothed die and was about to commit suicide, but St. Raphael the Archangel blessed him by giving him Tobias the son, and then bound the demon that was preventing him from marrying, and on his return he cured St. Tobias of his blindness.
The miracles of Saint Raphael the Archangel are not only those mentioned in the Book of Tobias, although they are related to it, such as curing blindness, comforting those who think they have no hope, uniting and blessing soul mates, among others, there are also testimonies, both ancient and current. The miracles of Saint Raphael the Archangel include the fact that if we pray to him and bless the medicines we have to take, they can heal us more effectively.
One of these testimonies tells of a Mexican woman, from Tijuana, who prayed to Saint Raphael the Archangel, asking him to bless a medicine that was making her very drowsy and sleepy, making it difficult for her to carry out her daily tasks. She prayed this prayer, took her medicine and the drowsiness disappeared, her family said that she felt more energetic every day, and they told this as a recent testimony of the miracles of Saint Raphael the Archangel.
Ancient accounts tell how the miracles of St Raphael the Archangel healed the wounds of St Frances in 1786, who referred to St Raphael the Archangel as her special nurse. St John of God (1495-1550) was devoted to St Raphael the Archangel, whom he considered his companion and who, when he was ill, revealed to him the day of his death and indicated that St John and the Virgin Mary would give their blessing to his hospital work.
