Legend has it that when the Orisá arrived on Earth, they held meetings at which women were excluded.
Oshun felt rejected for not being included and decided to make all the women sterile.
She also made an incantation so that whatever the men organised would not work.
Faced with this situation, the orisá took their grievances to Olodumare, telling him that things were very bad in the country.
Olodumare asked them if Oshun was working with them in the meetings, and they told him that he was not.
Olodumare reprimanded them for disregarding the goddess.
He reminded them of the power she wielded not only over fertility, but over everything she set her mind to.
The Orisá returned to earth and begged the Goddess to forgive them and to allow them to participate in her meetings.
After so much begging, Oshun agreed to help them, and things began to go well.
Since then she has been worshipped and they pray to Oshun for the return of their loved one.

Her powers
This goddess is called Ìyálóòde (Iyalode), which means “the most important of all the women of the city”.
Oshun is also the queen of all the rivers, which gives her power over life.
It is believed that her power comes from the stones at the bottom of the river that bears her name.
She also wears bronze jewellery and a tortoiseshell comb.
She is called the “Great Wizard” for good reason, as she knows many spells.
She also knows how to use her charms to reach her father, Obatalá.
It is said that she uses a very warm voice and some tears to move him and get all his secrets.
