Historians describe Saint Rose of Lima for her piety and chastity. Therefore, this prayer to Saint Rose of Lima is the one that should be said at all times for those who are devoted to her.
Saint Rose of Lima was born in 1586 to Spanish colonists in Lima, Peru, and was called Isabel Flores de Olivia, who was also said to be exceptionally beautiful.
In 1602, at the age of 16, Rosa was allowed to enter the Third Order Dominican convent in Lima. She took a vow of perpetual chastity and dedicated her life to helping others.
She opened a clinic offering medical services to the poor. Her total dedication to self-denial and suffering led her to ask God for greater trials. She often prayed: “Lord, increase my sufferings and with them increase your love in my heart.
Despite the extreme nature of these self-inflicted trials, Rosa found both the time and the strength for charitable works, especially those aimed at helping the poorest and most oppressed of Peru’s indigenous people. Together with St Martin de Porres, she is the patron saint of Peru.

Prayer to Saint Rose of Lima
Admirable Saint Rose, you were indeed a sweet flower that blossomed in a rough soil; you were indeed a rose among thorns, bearing with gentleness and patience the stings of envious tongues, and preserving perfect purity and humility amidst the seductive lusts of a deceitful world.
To the sufferings inflicted on your person by others, you added the voluntary tortures of fasting and vigilance, of discipline, of the crown of thorns and the hair shirt, in order to subdue the flesh and make yourself like your heavenly Spouse.
Through the merits you have acquired with your divine Spouse, obtain for me the grace to endure my sufferings with patience, to remain pure and modest, to be meek and humble, to be faithful to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit and thus to mortify my passions.
All this so that I may be ever more pleasing and acceptable in the sight of my dear Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer to Saint Rose of Lima for children
Holy Rose, devout virgin, perfumed rose in the garden of God, blooming sweetly amidst the thorns of torments and severe mortifications, white as snow in the immaculate innocence of your heart, radiant in the love of God that consumed you.
Your devotion to your parents was so great that you worked day and night to alleviate their poverty and to tenderly care for them during their illness.
Most grateful and humble daughter, have mercy on me and my children. Teach me to deserve the warm gratitude of my children by truly Christian behaviour.
Teach my children to appreciate my love and the many sacrifices I gladly make for them; teach them to repay them with filial love and obedience and above all with fervent prayers for me. Bless me and my whole family.
May our hearts be one, even in adversity. May our happiness not be found in temporal prosperity, but in the hope of future eternal blessings.
Pray also, O Patroness of America, especially for all Christian mothers, that Christian life and sentiments may be awakened among them everywhere.
May these sentiments spread and unite all families in the great family of God in which Jesus Christ, with God the Father and the Holy Spirit, lives and reigns. Amen.
