A brief history of Saint Cyprian
Saint Cyprian of Antioch, a city on the Asian continent, dates back to the third century, the time of Emperor Diocletian, the persecutor of the early Christians. During the first years of his life, Saint Cyprian was devoted to the worship of the Roman gods, being consecrated to the goddess Aphrodite and the god Jupiter, on the instructions of his father, who had initiated him into pagan practices since childhood.
However, his legendary story tells that when he met Saint Justina he converted to Christianity, abandoning his practices of worshipping the false gods, as his pagan rites failed when he tried to get Saint Justina to turn her gaze to a suitor who had asked Saint Cyprian to intervene with the Roman gods so that she would take notice of him. After his conversion, Saint Cyprian was led to Christianity by Saint Justina.
Thanks to Saint Justina, consecrated to Saint Bartholomew, he managed to become a bishop and a faithful follower of early Christianity, as a bishop he achieved his tendency to unite couples in permanent bonds, but both were captured by the imperial forces of Diocletian, who martyred them, an event that dates back to the year 304. Saint Justina and Saint Cyprian are venerable saints, not yet canonised, whose feast is celebrated on 26 September.
