“To understand what the cross means to evangelicals we have to go all the way back to 1 Corinthians 1:18 where it says: “For the word of the cross is foolishness to them that are perishing; but to us which are being saved it is the power of God.”

Let’s learn what the cross means to evangelicals.

For those of us who have accepted Jesus as Lord and personal Saviour, what the cross represents is very important.

It is a daily reminder of the sacrifice He made for us so that we might have salvation.

On that cross, an innocent man gave his life as a ransom for many who, without knowing it, have received the benefits of that sacrifice which was a ransom for us.

The benefits of that sacrifice which brought hope to humanity and especially to those who believe.

When we go back in history and look for the meaning of this kind of death on the cross, we realise

of immense value to the Christian people.

For we must not forget that this was a real way for some people to die in ancient times.

And that those who died by hanging from a tree before God were cursed, as the book of Deuteronomy 21:22-23 says.

And yet we wonder what the cross means to evangelicals and what it should mean to all humanity.

Many people do not appreciate this wonderful sacrifice that has opened the doors of eternity to us.

and the presence of the loving Father.

Jesus became the ONLY bridge that allows communication between God and humanity.

Without this sacrifice on the cross, this would not have been possible.

What the cross means to Evangelicals is power, it is love, it is sacrifice, it is a new opportunity.

It is the opportunity to enjoy eternal life, a victorious life after death.

It is the assurance that if you repent wholeheartedly and begin to serve God and love Him with all your might, you can fulfil your destiny in Him.

you can fulfil your purpose in Him.

The cross fills us with His love, with His forgiveness, which we do not deserve, but which we receive by His grace.

When we repent and turn from sin with our whole heart.

What the cross means to evangelicals is life, love and forgiveness!

When God created man (Adam), He created him with the expectation that he would be obedient to His commands.

But it was not so, his sinful nature caused him to disobey a direct command of God.

When they ate from the tree of good and evil, tempted by the serpent, man knew and suffered the consequences.

They would no longer be in the paradise of the Garden of Eden, nor would they eat without working.

Instead, they would have to earn their bread by the sweat of their brow.

And there were consequences for the woman too, for she would give birth to her children in pain.

After this, the first man and woman lost their privileges.

Previously they had been able to walk and talk with God directly, without intermediaries.

Now God himself had expelled them from his presence.

And I can’t think of anything worse than God casting you out of his sight.

Perhaps they began to meditate on their faults until they became accustomed to living that way.

That is why, when God saw that humanity was lost, he sent his only one, his only begotten Son.

On a rescue mission for all mankind, perhaps trusting that this sacrifice would be appreciated.

But this was not the case, and even today the cross means nothing to many Christians.

And I am not talking about the cross as a symbol, but about what it has achieved through the sacrifice of Jesus.

That is what we Evangelical Christians mean when we talk about the cross.

For we do not worship images, as the Bible demands, but we love Jesus and what he did for the sake of all humanity, for the sake of all humanity, for the sake of all humanity.

Out of love for all humanity, for those who accept him and also for those who do not.

The sacrifice was for all and for all, it is up to each one to accept it or not.

God is a gentleman and gave mankind free will so that they could decide for themselves what they wanted to do.

This is what the cross means to evangelicals, not the cross itself, but what happened on the cross when

Jesus chose to obey the eternal Father, that cross brought us power, love, peace, faith, healing, salvation, eternal life.

And what are you going to do with it? Will you throw it away or accept it?
