Many people think that being a person who spiritually leads a group of people in the way of God is an easy job, today we are going to explain to you what a church pastor is and what his responsibilities are.

Let’s find out what a church pastor is and what his duties are.
The first question we need to answer is what a church pastor is.
A pastor is a person whom God fills with His wisdom, authority and love to lead His sheep in the right way.
He must have conviction in his calling and be appointed by the church or leadership after being chosen by God.
In other words, he must pass through two filters, the first and most important being his calling by God and the second being his endorsement by the Church.
It is a job that carries a lot of responsibility before God, because it involves leading His people.
Just like Moses did in the wilderness when he led them out of Egypt.
And if we go back in history, Moses really didn’t have an easy job.
A pastor needs to have a number of qualities to be an effective pastor.
But who and what is a pastor of a church and what are his real functions?
A man who desires to be a pastor, as Scripture says, “desires a good thing”.
But he must be a man who fulfils a number of biblical requirements in order to be able to exercise his ministry.
We invite you to read these from 1 Timothy 3:1 onwards to give you an idea.
Having fulfilled these requirements, he must then perform a number of functions which will not be easy for those who do not have the calling.
They must be carried out with certain abilities that not everyone has.

TEACH
A pastor must have the ability to teach, as this is one of the most common tasks he will have.
He has a duty to teach the Word of God to everyone in his church.
He has to teach a people who do not know, do not know or simply do not understand how to do things the way God says.
And he should do this in a gentle, kind and loving spirit, understanding that he himself has been there at one time or another.
ADVICE
One of the things pastors are most sought after for is advice, so he should be a sober and prudent man.
He should not be given to gossiping or exposing people who come to him for advice.
Many of these things are sinful or scandalous, and he should not be surprised.
His words should be guided by God in all wisdom and love.
GUIDE
Moses’ responsibility to lead God’s people through the desert was not an easy one.
The people tended to stray from the right path at various times, and this often annoyed Moses.
But he had a job to do and he had to do it with great care.
When God puts something in your hands, it is because He knows that you can do it and that you will learn to obey Him.

LOVE
If you’re someone who doesn’t like to love much, or who picks and chooses who to ‘love’, then this job is not for you.
The pastor should be a copy of Jesus in the way he loves.
We observe how Jesus gave Himself for the lives of many on the cross of Calvary.
This selfless sacrifice was made by Jesus Christ out of love alone, dying even for those who hated Him.
A pastor must have the same love and passion for souls, I believe this is the most important thing in a pastor.
A man of God without enough love to love his disciples or sheep is not fit to be a shepherd.
Because he needs a lot of love to forgive what comes his way.
PASTORS
Pastors are like spiritual fathers to the sheep or disciples, and as fathers they are to rebuke.
But not the kind of rebuke that destroys people, but the kind that leads them to be better.
Just as we do with our children when they need to be corrected.
HEALING WOUND
This is one of the most difficult tasks. Most people who come to a church come with wounds.
These wounds have been inflicted in the course of their lives and many are still bleeding.
The work of a pastor is to heal these wounds with love so that the person can fulfil his or her destiny.
GO AND SEEK THE LOST
Many pastors skip this part of the job because it is not an easy task.
Why go looking for someone who has gone astray?
And the answer is because the Word says so in Luke 15:1-6, and these words were spoken by Jesus Himself.
A good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep.
FORGIVE
This is a virtue that all Christians should have, but a shepherd should have a double portion.
The office of shepherd is a very poorly paid one, and many times his own disciples betray him or leave him.
Therefore, if you are a person who has a hard time with the commandment to forgive, do not take up this ministry until you have learned to be generous.
Because unforgiveness brings roots of bitterness, and that is something that all people need to guard against, especially a pastor.

BE PEACEFUL
A gentle person, far from being brusque or violent, is someone you want to be close to because he inspires peace.
And this is one of the qualities a pastor should have.
BE AN EXAMPLE
He must be the first to keep the Word of God and all His commandments.
For in order to demand honesty or integrity from his disciples, he must have these virtues himself.
And with many others, people learn more from deeds than from a thousand words spoken from the pulpit.
A pastor must live up to what he preaches to the people, he must be subject to what the Word says.
So, after knowing what a pastor of a church is, the question remains, can I do it?
You must have discernment to know if the pastor of the church where you are meets the requirements that God requires.
If not, pray for him that God will help him to improve, unless he is blatantly breaking the commandments.
