The novenas or rosaries are religious practices that devotees perform for a total of nine days to obtain a specific favour, here we teach you the novena or rosary to St Patrick, you can also make novenas to St Augustine.
Novena or rosary to St Patrick
At the beginning of a novena or rosary to St Patrick, an opening prayer should be said for each day; the same applies to a novena to St Cajetan.
Prayer for each day
This is how we begin the novena or rosary to Saint Patrick, holy and mighty Saint Patrick, you who are that faithful shepherd of the heavenly and royal flock of Christ, you who illuminated Ireland with that beautiful radiance that brings the Gospel, which is a mighty power of the Holy Trinity, now that you can enjoy eternal bliss, we ask you to intercede for us, so that the Lord our God may always preserve us in faith and also in charity, through the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
First day
For my own good and also for my protection, I ask today, St. Patrick, that the beautiful power of the Holy Trinity may always surround me. I, St. Patrick, who was a sinner and the least of the faithful, who was despised by many, when I was about 16 years old I did not know the true God and at that time I was brought to Ireland in captivity because we turned away from God, because we were disobedient. Ask for the favour you want, pray an Our Father, a Hail Mary and a Glory Be.
Second day
On this second day, for my good and also for my protection today, I ask you with all my heart that the power of Christ’s Passion, Death and Resurrection will always surround me.
And it was then that the Lord opened the reason to my heart full of unbelief, so that even if it was late, I would always remember my sins and convert with all my heart and soul to the Lord who had mercy on me and always took care of me even before I met him and I would know right from wrong and he would always be my consoler.
Third day
I invoke for my health and well being and also for my protection, today I ask the angels and archangels from my heart to watch over me.
I know that there has never been another God, neither before nor after, only You my God, without beginning, from Whom comes all beginning and all end, who is the Owner of all things, of Your Son Jesus Christ we give faithful testimony, through You all things were made visible, may every tongue confess that You are the Lord, whom we must believe, the one and true God, the Almighty.Ask for the favour you desire, pray an Our Father, a Hail Mary and a Glory Be.
Fourth day
On this day I ask for my welfare and protection, I ask for the help of the prophets and martyrs who in their lifetime were witnesses of God’s infinite love.
During the night I saw in visions a man called Victoricus, it was as if he came from Ireland and he brought many letters, he gave me one of them, I read the first few lines and then I heard many other voices saying we ask you to come among us once more. To ask for the favour you want, you pray an Our Father, a Hail Mary and a Glory Be.
Fifth day
I ask for my protection and for my well-being that the Most Holy Trinity may surround me.
In the measure of the faith which I have in the Most Holy Trinity at this hour, it is fitting that I should distinguish and make known without any danger that good gift of God and that consolation which is eternal, and without any fear to spread everywhere the name of our God, so that even after my death there may remain an inheritance for my brothers and children. Ask for the favour you desire, and pray an Our Father, a Hail Mary and a Glory Be.
Sixth day
On this day I make the invocation for my welfare and protection and I ask with all my heart that Jesus, who came to this earth to save the world from sin, will be my eternal shield.
After I arrived in Ireland, I helped with the flocks during the day and prayed at the same time, and so the love of God and His mighty fear came to me every day, my faith increased and my spirit was sustained, so that I made a total of one hundred prayers, and I did the same at night. To ask for the favour you want, say an Our Father, a Hail Mary and a Glory Be.
Eighth day
On this day of the novena or rosary to St Patrick, I ask for your health and protection, I ask for your strength, Lord, to sustain me and your love to encourage me.
And after a few years I found myself in Great Britain with some of my relatives and they welcomed me as a son and asked me in faith not to go further away from them, to stay at least for a while, even after going through many tribulations, to ask for the favour you desire, pray an Our Father, a Hail Mary and a Glory Be.
The ninth day
On this day of the novena or rosary to St Patrick I ask for my good health and also for my protection, today I ask for this from all the saints in heaven.
Always, without tiring, I give infinite thanks to God, I who am and remain a faithful servant, even in the day of temptation, therefore today, with total confidence, I offer my soul in total sacrifice to Christ, my Saviour and Redeemer, who always protects me from all my pains and troubles. To ask for the favour you desire, pray an Our Father, a Hail Mary and a Glory Be. Watch this video.
