Most people in legal trouble pray to St Marcus de Leon to win an important case, as he is known as the lawyer of impossible cases.

There are many people who, for one reason or another, have found themselves in legal trouble.

This is a difficult time to face, as it almost always results in the loss of a person’s freedom or property.

If the person is lucky, he or she can count on an honest lawyer.

But if he is not so lucky, he may even lose the trousers he is wearing.

So in every family it would be great to have a doctor, a fireman and a lawyer.

But if you don’t have these blessings, we ordinary people have to rely on God, who is the best advocate par excellence.

The Bible says in 1 John 2:1 that we all have Jesus Christ as our advocate.

And the best part is that it is guaranteed, because He never loses a case, He wins them all!

However, there are those who prefer to pray to St Mark of Leon to win a case they think they have already lost.

Let’s see who Marcos de León is, the defender of his followers.

His feast day is celebrated on 25 April.

He is the patron saint of lawyers, prisoners, notaries and penitents.

He is best known as the author of the book of the same name in the New Testament.

For more information, see our article How many books does the Protestant Bible have in the New Testament?

In it, he recounts the most important aspects of Jesus’ life.

Although he was a young boy at the time of Jesus’ crucifixion, it is said that Jesus was a close friend of his parents.

As a result, Mark grew up learning the Word of God and, as an adult, devoted himself to preaching the Gospel.

According to historians, Mark spent a great deal of time as a missionary, preaching the Word of God alongside Barnabas and Paul.

His work with Peter

He then returned to work directly with Peter.

Scholars believe that Mark was Peter’s interpreter.

The time he spent with him helped him to learn much about the life of Jesus.

As Peter walked with Jesus, he brought him the teachings he had not heard as a child.

It is believed that their relationship was such that Mark became Peter’s confidant and adviser.

Many associate him with the Lion, because in every sermon Mark preached he always alluded to him.

He said that when John the Baptist preached, his voice roared like that of the lion in the wilderness.

In the same way, Mark was compared to that animal because, like him, he crossed the desert to take the word of God wherever he went.

Mark’s popularity was such that he was appointed Bishop of Alexandria.

It was in this city that he performed most of his miracles and healings.

But just as he had followers, he also had detractors.

They accused him of being a sorcerer, for which he was imprisoned and tortured to death.

After his death, like most martyrs, Marcos de León began to be venerated.

The faithful began to venerate him and they began to pray to Saint Marcos de León to win a trial.

His remains rest today in a basilica named after him in the city of Venice, Italy.

Every 25th April, the faithful go there to venerate his image.

And they take the opportunity to pray to him for a case that is difficult to solve.

prayer to saint marc de leon to win a trial

O blessed Saint Mark of Leon

You who were the chronicler of Jesus

And nourished by all the knowledge of Peter

To you I appeal today as my advocate

That is why I make this prayer to St Mark of Leon to win a trial.

That you may help me to come out of this situation with flying colours.

You who saw the death of Jesus

And you wrote his life as if you had been there

That’s why they call you God’s evangelist.

And to your followers we have you as our faithful protector.

Throughout Alexandria you preached the Gospel.

And you were a prey to your enemies who accused you out of envy.

But you came out of it with grace, blessed St Mark.

For now you are in heaven at the right hand of the Father.

You helped this religion to grow with your company.

You carried the Word everywhere you went.

That’s why you earned the nickname Lion.

I ask you to fearlessly defend us with your claws.

Sadly, your death was a prolonged martyrdom.

But as your body was dragged away

Even after death you gained more followers

Who today respect and venerate you and trust you with encouragement.

Your soul was blessed and strong, divine Saint Mark.

Glorious and righteous scribe, defender of the needy

For to you law and justice are priceless.

Blessed St Mark of Leon

You who are the protector of judges and lawyers

And of those who, like me, seek justice

I beg you to tilt your scales in my favour

And be so good as to grant me the reason in what I dispute

So that I may come out well, without sorrow and without pain

And above all, without regret in my poor heart

As you quenched the lion’s thirst

I ask you to subdue my enemies

So that they may fall at my feet on the throne

And may I emerge victorious and with the favour of the law.

And so you will have my everlasting thanks for the favour granted.

Amen.
