St Cyprian was a Roman priest who loved to write and was Bishop of an important ancient city called Carthage between 249 and 58, in this article we will learn a little about his life and his powerful prayers.
History of Saint Cyprian
St. Cyprian was born in Africa, he first taught rhetoric, later he became a Christian on the advice of the presbyter Caecilius, from whom he took his name, and used all his possessions to help the poor, some time later he was ordained a presbyter and years later he was appointed Bishop of Carthage.
Shortly afterwards he was ordained a priest and then Bishop of Carthage. He suffered martyrdom at the hands of the emperors Valerian and Gallienus and was also persecuted by Cornelius in Rome. St Cyprian also bore the name Tascius, his birthplace was North Africa and his year of birth is placed in the early 3rd century, his parents were wealthy and gave him a good education and literary training.
Pagan vices were also part of his life, in this pagan vices refers to the fact that he was associated with all things white magic and sorcery, as he had great powers to perform exorcisms, spells and the like. It is these things of witchcraft that made his life pagan.
But one day, with the help of Cecilio’s faith and grace, he managed to change the course of his life and existence by converting to Christianity, his life changed completely and he began to be a great example in the practice of austerity, teaching much about charity.
Some time after his baptism, he joined the clergy and gave all his wealth to the Church. In the year two hundred and forty-eight or two hundred and forty-nine, he took part in the episcopal elections and was democratically elected.
St Cyprian stood firm and strong for his episcopal authority and made his opinion prevail against all the confessors. St Cyprian held the power of the Church of Carthage until the year two hundred and fifty-seven, but during his tenure he was persecuted by all those who were against Christianity until the middle of the third century.
In the year two hundred and fifty, because of the various persecutions, Bishop Saint Cyprian went into hiding to prevent anything serious from happening to him, in his hidden retreat and isolation, he did not stay away from the Church, but continued to govern all his faithful through a strong activity of letters, when he saw that he would no longer run any risk, he decided to return to his city, where he devoted himself completely to his community.
In the year two hundred and fifty-seven he was brought before the proconsul Aspasius, who subjected him to a kind of interrogation in order to extract information from him, pressuring him by telling him that by order of the Romans those who did not profess their religion could not have that kind of faith, and asking him if he belonged to that group of people.
And St Cyprian answered openly that he was a Christian and a bishop, that he believed in one God, the One who created the heavens, the sea, the earth and all that is in them,
Because of this testimony, the proconsul gave the order to banish Saint Cyprian and he took refuge in the community of Curubí; years later, when a new proconsul was appointed, he was called again to make his confession.
This confession was made on the thirteenth of September and once again Saint Cyprian reaffirmed his Christian faith and for this reason he was condemned to death; later, before his execution, he reaffirmed the generosity that had always characterised his life and ordered that twenty-five gold coins be given to the man who was to be his executioner.
On the fourteenth of September, the execution of Saint Cyprian took place and he was beheaded in the presence of a large number of people and faithful who came to admire the great example that the martyr had given them, and there were many faithful who wept for his death and prayed for his memory.
History points out that St Cyprian was the first bishop after the Apostles to shed his blood in Africa for the defence and affirmation of the Christian faith, and it is through the grace of this saint that the continent is becoming more and more open to the reading of the Bible.

Novena to Saint Cyprian
This novena to San Cipriano works, it is made days before the central day of the saint or in cases where his help is urgently needed, because it is a novena made nine consecutive days, to make the novena dedicated to San Cipriano you must pray the Holy Rosary, then a preparatory prayer is made, then you say what corresponds to each day, you make the desired petition with all your faith and then a final prayer is made with the commitment to keep it present in your thoughts during the day.

Second day of the novena: O loving San Cipriano, I ask you to protect me from every evil spell that surrounds my life, I ask you to help me to keep away from every temptation that comes my way, and above all I ask you to protect me from my enemies, so that they feel confused and away from me and from those who are mine, I implore you so that each of my petitions will be heard, give me the strength to have security and to trust also in the Virgin Mary.
Third day of the novena: Today I come to you, Saint Cyprian, in the name of God, I dedicate my prayer and devotion to you, I ask you to free me from every danger and harm that my enemies want to do to me, to free me from every evil and poisonous and rabid animal that may approach my life, and especially to free me from every evil spell or witchcraft.
I ask you to be my guide, together with St Michael the Archangel, so that the roads I travel may be safe and full of happiness, clear each of the routes I will take so that I may not run into any risk or danger, I ask you, San Cipriano, to help me with your intercession before God and Christ. Amen.
Fourth day of the novena: O beloved Lord of heaven, you who created everything we have on earth, you whom the archangels revere and worship, all the seraphim and all the saints like St. Mark, I adore you and you are the centre of my life, you who are the creator of all good and who have that inexhaustible source of holiness.
Today, Holy Father, I thank you for all the beauties you give us in nature, I thank you for helping St Cyprian to be your faithful servant. I thank you for being my protector and for all the favours you have granted me through your powerful intercession, St Cyprian. Today I offer you, holy martyr, to be my advocate and defender, to worship and honour you, and to make more of the faithful pay tribute to you.

Fifth day of the novena: O beloved God, through the intercession of Saint Cyprian, I pray that You, with Your infinite power, will free all those who are bound by spells, enchantments and all those things that the dark hand of evil has, and break the chains that bind them, so that Satan cannot have dominion over them.
Glorious and exemplary Saint Cyprian, I beseech you today, through your intercession in Christ Jesus, protect me from each and every one of the evil spells of the devil that surround my life. Watch over my every word, what my eyes see and above all my thoughts. May everything be for good and not filled with confusion. May all my enemies be confused and turn away from me. Sixth day of the novena: In the name of the great power of God, I invoke the mighty power of Saint Cipriano in Jesus Christ, and with all my faith and devotion I pray and pray that I (name of the person) may be successful and productive in each of the affairs or undertakings that I propose to myself, that I may not be confronted with great difficulties that I cannot resolve.

Ninth day of the novena:
Today I come to you, Angels of the Lord, I ask you to listen to my petitions, because without your help my heart feels weak and loses all its strength, I ask you that all those who try to harm me be confused, that every evil spell or bond that harms my life be broken forever, that they be removed from my life.

The Book or Grimoire of Saint Cyprian
The authorship of the book is attributed to Saint Cyprian of Antioch, he is not the same Saint Cyprian of Carthage, sometimes it is confused when talking about who wrote the text, in this book you can find different works because it is a kind of anthology called Flas Sanctorum, there are many things that are talked about in these stories.
In one of the sections it says that this Saint Cyprian was born in Antioch, which is a place between Syria and Arabia, as you can see he is also an African saint like Saint Cyprian of Carthage, it says that he was a young man with riches inherited from his parents, that he was a man full of culture because he travelled to different countries like Greece, Egypt and India.
It speaks of St Cyprian of Carthage having magical powers, and this information was spread among the Christian faithful and is linked to other magicians who existed in antiquity, such as Simon and Solomon. This book is called the Book of Grimoires because it contains different types of rituals from both white and black magic.
Most of the rituals that appear in the book of St Cyprian are for healing the sick, curing diseases and seemingly good things, but it should be noted that in all things of white magic there are always things of black magic and this is not good in the eyes of God.
